Research Briefs & Memos

Data Briefs provide a point-in-time snapshot of eviction cases filed in Oregon, including the number of cases being filed, the procedural pathways cases are taking, rates of representation in court, and case outcomes. Eviction data is not static, there are multiple ways that the status of a case can change overtime, changing the data. Therefore, some numbers included in the data briefs may become outdated over time, as court records are updated. The most current versions of each data point are available in real time on the Latest Data section of the Evicted in Oregon website.

Research Memos are short write-ups that include data and written analysis. They primarily provide data and analysis about specific time period or geography.

County Profiles document eviction filings, case outcomes, and court procedures; which can vary widely across the state.  Housing markets, demographics, and available programs and services also differ, resulting in variable patterns of housing instability due to eviction. To capture some of this county-level variation - and to provide a resource for local organizers and policymakers - we created ten County Eviction Profiles. Each profile includes information on county demographics, rental housing, eviction filings, the causes listed on termination notices, disparities in legal representation, and eviction case outcomes.
